Kicking off the month strong in France! We are so proud to celebrate the successful installation of the first turbine at our Îles d’Yeu & Noirmoutier (EMYN) project — one of our three projects currently under simultaneous construction in the country.
Located off the Vendée coast, EMYN will see 61 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines installed by September. With blades and nacelles manufactured in Le Havre, the project reflects our strong commitment to the French and European supply chain. Once operational, our 500 MW wind farm will produce enough clean electricity to power nearly 800,000 people.
Marc Hirt, our Country Manager for France shares, “the installation of EMYN’s first turbine is a powerful demonstration of Ocean Winds’ commitment to France’s energy transition and our contribution to offshore wind development in the country and in the region. A remarkable feature of EMYN is its strong European and French industrial footprint: 95% of the project’s Tier 1 suppliers are European, with over 50% sourced in France.”
Huge thanks to each and every one of you, the commitment and collaboration of our amazing teams is what pushes us towards a greener future and full commissioning of EMYN by the end of this year. Let’s keep going #BeyondEnergy!
Momentum is building in France as our EFGL floating offshore wind project advances this month in preparation for offshore installation.
Earlier this month, the first of three floaters—each a 2,000-tonne structure measuring 22m high and 80m wide—was launched from the Grand Port Maritime in Marseille. These large-scale structures reflect the industrial maturity and logistical coordination required to scale floating wind in Europe.
Mid-month, the floater arrived at Port-La Nouvelle, where final turbine assembly is now underway. Installation at sea is expected to begin early this summer, 16 km off the southern French coast.
Once installed, the 10 MW turbines will be the most powerful ever mounted on a floater in France.
Save the date: On June 2, an official site visit will welcome media and public figures to witness, for the first time, the assembly of floating turbines at this scale — open to public view.
Congratulations to all teams involved — your expertise is helping shape the future of floating offshore wind in the Mediterranean!
This month, OW proudly celebrated five years of successful operation of WindFloat Atlantic!!
Since launching off the coast of Viana do Castelo, the project has consistently delivered clean, reliable energy — producing 345 GWh and powering 25,000 homes yearly — and continues to exceed expectations!
To mark the milestone, we hosted a series of official celebrations, including a plaque unveiling at the project’s O&M base, attended by the Mayor of Viana do Castelo, Dr. Luís Nobre, accompanied by our CEO, Craig Windram; our COO, Bautista Rodriguez; and OW’s Country Manager for Iberia, José Pinheiro.
The celebrations also included an institutional dinner aboard the Portuguese Navy’s NRP Sagres, a significant national symbol, which brought together representatives from our company, partners, project collaborators, the Portuguese central government, regional and local authorities, industry associations, academia, and the local community — representing some of the key stakeholders who have driven the project forward.
In this context, a dedicated report, WindFloat Atlantic: Five Years of Producing Renewable Energy was released, highlighting the five key areas where WindFloat Atlantic has created value and driven the evolution of the sector:
José Miguel Pinheiro, Director of OW for Iberia, stated: “After five years of operation, we are proud of the performance of the WindFloat Atlantic project in producing clean energy. We feel part of a community that identifies with our work and the historical connection that Viana do Castelo and the country have with the sea. Today, we are now even more confident that the investment decision made in 2018 was the right one. The innovative nature of the project has provided valuable insights regarding the behaviour of floating technology, its interaction with the marine environment, and its potential for synergy with the community, both on land and at sea. All of this accumulated experience is crucial for future floating offshore wind projects.”

In case you missed it! A significant step forward for our Dieppe – Le Tréport offshore wind farm was concluded las week, as Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE) has successfully completed the installation of two 23 km subsea cables, which will soon connect our Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm to the French national grid.
This complex and carefully planned operation marks a crucial milestone for the project, made possible through close collaboration between our teams and RTE. The work was delivered on schedule, with the highest standards of safety and environmental protection, reflecting the strong partnership and shared commitment behind this ambitious offshore development!
A huge thank you to all teams both on land and at sea for making this transformation possible.
Next up: jacket installation, so stay tuned!
We’re excited to share great news from Poland — the Contracts for Difference (CfD) decision for the BC-Wind project has now been finalized! This is a major step forward for our Polish offshore wind project, bringing us significantly closer to Final Investment Decision (FID) and Financial Close (FC).
The CfD is a key government support mechanism that secures a stable long-term revenue for renewable energy projects. For BC-Wind, it confirms the route to market and strengthens investor confidence — a critical milestone for the project’s overall development.
The process began in March 2021 and involved a complex, multi-stage approval journey, including national-level clearance, individual notification to the European Commission, and final confirmation from the Polish Energy Regulatory Office. After four years of dedicated work, we’ve successfully reached the finish line.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible efforts of our teams hard at work on BC-Wind.
Congratulations to everyone involved — this success moves BC-Wind another step closer to becoming a reality!

This month our UK team attended the Scottish Renewables Young Professionals Green Energy Awards, honouring the innovation, dedication, and leadership shaping the future of sustainable energy. OW was a proud sponsor of the Analyst Award, recognising the talent and expertise driving real change in our sector.
Our team also attended the Scottish Renewables Clean Power Breakfast for MSPs in Edinburgh, which was a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, and champion the future of clean energy in Scotland. At the drop-in session, developers and suppliers from across the sector shared their projects and priorities directly with cross-party MSPs.
Meanwhile, our team in Poland took part in two diverse industry events, reflecting the growing interest and momentum around offshore wind in the country! On May 6–7, Aleksandra Jampolska, Public Affairs and Stakeholders Senior Manager, joined the Future Energy Congress in Toruń. This year’s theme, “Synergy of Innovation”, emphasized collaboration between various energy technologies and sectors. During a panel discussion, Aleksandra presented the involvement of Polish companies in the BC-Wind project, highlighting recently signed Tier 1 contracts for onshore and offshore substations with Polish contractors.
Just a day later, on May 8, Berenika Sepczyńska, Senior Legal Manager, represented OW at a conference organized by DWF Poland and industry partners. The discussion focused on lessons from the first phase of offshore wind development in the Baltic Sea, where Berenika addressed key legal and contractual challenges in the sector and shared practical insights on how to support successful project execution while strengthening local supply chain participation.
