Great news! Construction is officially underway for our Dieppe-Le Tréport operations and maintenance (O&M) base in France. This hub is key for ensuring the long-term performance of our around 500 MW project. Did you know?
The base, spanning 4,000m², will house offices, storage, and logistics areas, with pontoons for technician transfers and maintenance operations – making this a one-stop shop for efficient offshore wind farm servicing.
This project reflects our continued commitment to responsible development, supporting local economies, and driving France’s energy transition.
In terms of timelines, our Dieppe-Le Tréport Project Director, Frédéric Flaus comments, “we will start up the first wind turbines in the summer of 2026, so that all of them can be running by the end of the year. In June-July 2026, the first green electrons will reach French homes.
Great work to our teams for making this milestone possible – you rock!
The exciting updates from our French projects just keep on coming! Earlier this month, our EFGL project, in collaboration Banque des Territoires, officially selected Port-La Nouvelle as the site for its maintenance base —a first for this growing hub of offshore wind.
EFGL’s 10 MW floating wind turbines —among the most powerful ever installed on floating platforms— will generate clean energy for over 50,000 coastal residents.
Why did we choose Port-La Nouvelle?
As we move toward an end-of-year inauguration, we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work of our teams in keeping the project on track and setting the stage for the future of offshore wind in the Mediterranean!
Exciting updates from Belgium! OW is thrilled to welcome SeaCoop as a new partner in Haddock Wind, our consortium with Eneco and Otary as we prepare to bid for the Princess Elisabeth Zone I concession.
Founded by 34 Belgian energy cooperatives, SeaCoop is dedicated to giving citizens a direct stake in offshore wind energy. Their participation strengthens our shared vision of ensuring that offshore wind benefits both the climate and local communities.
This collaboration builds on our strong partnership with Eneco and Otary, who are already our valued partners in our currently operating 487 MW Seamade offshore wind farm. Together, we continue driving Belgium’s renewable energy future.
A huge congratulations to our teams for their hard work in pushing forward the bid preparations. Best of luck for the upcoming tender this year!
The Offshore Renewable Energy Allocation Plan (PAER) is designed to enhance Portugal’s offshore renewable energy capacity while aligning with national climate objectives. Its primary goals are to increase the national offshore renewable energy capacity by reaching a total installed capacity of around 2 GW by 2030 and to support national climate goals by helping achieve Portugal’s aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030.
The plan identifies five designated areas for the development of offshore wind farms, which are crucial for meeting these targets, Leixões (2,5 GW), Viana do Castelo (0,8 GW), Figueira da Foz (4,6 GW), and Sines (1,5 GW).
These areas have been strategically selected based on their wind resources and minimal conflict with other marine activities, as well as considering ecological impacts, particularly on marine life, while ensuring compatibility with fishing activities.
The approved plan emphasises the importance of sustainable development and highlights the need for effective planning and management to ensure that renewable energy projects can coexist with their surroundings.
The approval of this plan represents a significant advancement towards the development of commercial floating offshore wind projects in Portugal, paving the way for a windy and sustainable energy future in the country!
As we just announced this month that Atlantique Offshore Energy will handle the preventive maintenance of our two offshore substations at EMYN, the installation of these substations has given us breathtaking images like this one!
Active month in the UK! Our UK team organised a special parliamentary event at the Scottish Parliament. The Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy, Gillian Martin, along with our Country Manager for UK, Adam Morrison, and Mark Baxter, Project Director for Caledonia, addressed the attendees, which included civil servants, local councillors, Scottish Renewables, and key supply chain and skills partners. This event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with political representatives and share insights into OW’s journey and the challenges faced by the industry.
To conclude the month, the team was present in the Scottish Renewables’ Grid and Networks event! Our Country Manager for UK, Adam Morrison, also got the opportunity to discuss more about our position and recent announcements made.
Crossing the ocean, we head to Japan! Together with our partners, OW organised the Floating Wind Event, bringing together over 300 attendees. This event provided a platform to share key messages, highlight the importance of advancing the sector, and address the challenges it faces in today’s landscape.
Our Head of Business Development Japan and Asia Pacific, Pelayo Rodriguez, had the opportunity to convey these messages during his presentation, reinforcing our commitment to driving the development of floating wind farms in the country and contributing to Japan’s net-zero targets.
To wrap up the month, our team in Portugal took part in the BLUE Careers Fair in Lisbon! This event provided a great opportunity to introduce OW, connect with professionals and students, and showcase our commitment to the renewable energy sector—both in Portugal and worldwide!
At OW, we are committed to salary transparency as a key pillar of our People strategy!

At OW, we are committed to education! Currently, various teams across the globe are developing and working on different programs.
In Poland, we just wrapped up the latest edition of Career with the Wind, an educational program designed to prepare high school students for careers in the renewable energy sector. Over two years, the program was held monthly in five selected schools—Gdańsk, Puck, Kłanino, Częstochowa, and Szczecin—providing students with in-depth knowledge of offshore wind energy and renewable technologies. This year, the program successfully concluded in Gdańsk, Częstochowa, and Kłanino, with participants taking a knowledge test and receiving certificates for their achievements.
In Gdańsk, the program ended with an inspiring lecture by Robert Hałuszczak, Electrical Senior Manager, who shared his career journey and provided guidance on entering the renewable energy sector. Meanwhile, students in Częstochowa and Kłanino completed their programs in technical and renewable energy fields, demonstrating their commitment to a sustainable future!
And that’s not all! In Portugal, our team is working on the third edition of Wind Experts in Viana do Castelo, with over 150 students involved! After developing three educational courses where students learned more about renewable energies and offshore wind, they have now initiated the second stage of this programme, where students must construct an offshore wind turbine, allowing their creativity and innovation to shine.
Our team has visited these young students to answer their questions and inspire them on this windy journey! In April, the OW jury will select the best three projects submitted and award the winning team with iPads, along with a monetary prize for the school to invest in innovative projects.
To wrap up the month, OW continues to support the next generation of innovators! This month, we sponsored the First Lego League Regional Final in Elgin, where students showcased their creativity and STEM skills. Our colleagues Craig Murphy, O&M Manager in Buckie, presented the awards, while Erin Baker, Project Engineer, served as a judge. As sponsors for three years, we’ve seen firsthand how this initiative builds confidence, enhances technical expertise, and fosters incredible creativity—all while making learning fun!
