This is just a brief summary of our successful past five years:
Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just joined, you are part of the story. And the best is yet to come!

Kicking off the month on a high note, our 500 MW Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm successfully installed its offshore substation — an exciting milestone and the first visible step of offshore construction for the project, after cables installation campaign was concluded the previous month.
Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique and installed by DEME’s Gulliver vessel, this key component will gather electricity from the project’s 62 turbines and transfer it to shore via RTE’s grid connection infrastructure. The substation sits on a jacket foundation fabricated by Navantia and was transported and installed during a multi-day offshore operation. The milestone reflects the strength of the French and European supply chain, with key components delivered from France, Spain, and Belgium — a testament to the industrial collaboration driving offshore wind forward.
“This installation is another significant milestone for Ocean Winds, and a further demonstration of the momentum building across France’s offshore wind sector,” said Marc Hirt, our Country Manager for France. “It also reflects the trust placed in us by the French State to contribute to the country’s energy transition, supported by a robust French and European industrial supply chain.”
Once operational, Dieppe-Le Tréport will supply clean electricity to roughly 850,000 households, reinforcing France’s renewable energy ambitions and OW’s role in delivering them.
A huge congratulations to all teams and partners involved for making this decisive phase a success! Next step: installation of the jackets for the turbines! Some are already on their way!!
Momentum continues to build for our 390 MW BC-Wind project in Poland! Closing out the month, our team successfully signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa to supply and maintain 26 SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines—technology already deployed on our Moray West project in the UK and Yeu-Noirmoutier in France.
Each turbine has a capacity of 14 MW, with the potential to be boosted to 15 MW, contributing to BC-Wind’s goal of delivering clean electricity to nearly 488,000 Polish homes.
“This project not only underscores our commitment to renewable energy but also affirm that the Baltic Sea is a crucial market for us.” shares Kacper Kostrzewa, our Country Manager for Poland.
Pete Geddes, Project Director for BC-Wind, added: “We are confident that this solution will deliver strong performance for our project in Poland. The agreement also includes service and maintenance, ensuring reliability and optimal performance throughout the project’s operational life.”
Marc Becker, Senior Vice President of Siemens Gamesa for Offshore, also emphasized the significance of this partnership: “Thanks to our long-standing partnership with Ocean Winds, we are well-positioned to harness the potential of wind energy in Polish waters. As the project progresses—as we fully expect—we are prepared to advance offshore wind energy further with our 14-megawatt turbines.”
This agreement reflects our commitment to proven technology, long-term performance, and the development of the Polish offshore wind supply chain.
Congratulations to our teams for securing this critical package—another important step toward bringing our first offshore wind farm in Poland to life!
OW Newsletter #50:
Marking 50 issues of team success!
During EMDT’s offshore installation, the bubbles naturally formed an ‘O’ in the sea… so with a little creativity, we added the ‘W’ to make it complete!
Starting the month strong! OW and Siemens Gamesa proudly received the “Best International Energy Initiative” award at La Noche de la Energía 2025, organised by El Periódico de la Energía.
Our combined offshore wind projects, Moray West, Yeu-Noirmoutier, and Dieppe Le Tréport, are driving the energy transition by creating over 2,500 jobs, delivering 1.8 GW of clean energy, and unlocking €7.4 billion in investments across Europe.
This award recognises our commitment to going beyond energy, supporting local communities, training programmes, and European supply chains.
Congratulations to Óscar Díaz Martín-Forero, Pablo Diego Finkielstein, and Jose Miguel Mesa Perez for representing OW and Siemens Gamesa at this milestone event.
That was not all! This month, OW has also participated in Australia Wind Energy 2025 in Melbourne, showcasing our commitment to supporting Australia’s clean energy future!
With our 1.3 GW High Sea Wind project in development, we shared nearly 19 GW of global offshore wind expertise with industry, government, and community stakeholders.
We were proud to have two of our experts contribute valuable insights during the event. On day one, Pelayo Rodríguez Alonso, Head of Business Development for Japan & APAC, participated in a fireside chat exploring whether Australia can shift from being a global follower to a clean energy leader. The following day, Kristy Finch, Permitting & Environment Senior Manager for OW in Australia, joined a panel discussing strategies to streamline the commercialisation of offshore wind projects.
To finalise this great month, our UK Country Manager, Adam Morrison, attended the Holyrood Communications “Showcasing Scotland – Summer Reception and MP Awards” held at the House of Commons. The event gathered Scottish MPs for an evening of meaningful discussions on Scotland’s future and collaborative progress.
Thanks to the organisers for a great opportunity to engage and connect.
Thanks to everyone who helped make our presence a success!
Big news from the UK this month, as the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) published its long-anticipated 2025 update on the Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA). The publication reveals key decision: the UK will not move to a zonal pricing system, but instead pursue targeted reforms to the current GB-wide electricity market.
This decision marks a turning point for offshore wind developers and reflects the sector’s strong advocacy for a stable investment environment.
Key points for offshore wind:
Accelerated grid build-out to improve constraint management.
Reforms to network and transmission charging, with more predictable investment signals for new generation.
Plans to develop a Strategic Spatial Energy Plan to guide future infrastructure and grid expansion.
OW’s take? We welcome the Government’s recognition of offshore wind’s central role in a decarbonised energy system. While locational pricing could help improve system efficiency, it must be introduced carefully to avoid undermining investor confidence. As stated by our very own Country Manager in the UK, Adam Morrison:
“The Government’s announcement to drop zonal pricing is a decision we, like the majority of renewables developers, consider the right choice to protect investment, drive economic growth, and deliver the UK’s Clean Power ambitions.
However, urgent challenges remain. Rapidly escalating transmission charges are eroding the value of operational offshore wind farms, while unpredictable locational signals are deterring future investment — particularly in the north of the UK.”
OW will continue to engage in the REMA process to advocate for a market framework that supports long-term investment, system efficiency, and fair grid access for offshore wind.
At OW, we do our best to protect and enhance the marine environments in which we operate. In France, our local teams in collaboration with our Innovation team at HQ, are taking another step toward a more sustainable maritime future by supporting LINC BioMer—a collaborative project focused on developing biodegradable, biosourced, and recyclable fishing gear.
Led by Coopération Maritime, alongside partners like Le Drezen, Ifremer, and ComposiTIC, this three-year initiative aims to reduce plastic pollution from lost fishing nets, a major contributor to marine waste. Already in the test phase, this initiative is fully in line with the AGEC law, which has imposed an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for fishing gear since January 2025.
“Our collaboration with LINC BioMer reflects our vision of a sustainable maritime future where offshore wind and traditional sectors like fishing not only coexist—but thrive together,” said Nicolas Peignet, our Fisheries Relations Coordinator for France.
Congratulations to our teams for leading with purpose and for helping prove that clean energy and sustainable fisheries can go hand-in-hand!
We have a winner! The 2025 edition of Wind Experts has officially wrapped up in Viana do Castelo, home of our WindFloat Atlantic project.
Created and developed by OW, Wind Experts is an international educational programme designed to raise awareness about climate change and inspire younger generations to learn and take part in the energy transition.
The programme is divided into two parts: first, interactive sessions on climate, renewable energy, and offshore wind; then, a creative challenge where students must build a replica of one of our WindFloat Atlantic turbines using recycled materials and plenty of imagination.
With the support of the Câmara Municipal of Viana do Castelo and the participation of five local schools, more than 150 students joined this year: our most successful edition yet!
Creativity, teamwork, and innovation were evident throughout. To close this special edition, we held an awards ceremony where all participants were recognised and the winning team was awarded a donation for their school.
We’re proud to continue investing in our communities and inspiring young minds to explore the potential of offshore wind, especially with such a pioneering project so close to home.
Thanks to the colleagues involved for developing such a special edition!
