Exciting news! Earlier this month, Scotland’s First Minister visited Buckie to mark the official opening of our brand-new Operations & Maintenance (O&M) base, in presence of Craig Windram our CEO, Adam Morrison our UK Country Manager, and Jaime Dempster our Moray West Senior O&M Manager. This state-of-the-art facility will service our Moray West project and ensure smooth operations for years to come.
Built by local Scottish contractors, the base is fully equipped with offices, warehousing, and even pontoons and cranes for the Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) which will carry personnel and equipment to the wind farm daily. Once fully operational, the base will handle up to 100 vessel movements each week!
Our 882 MW Moray West project is nearing the final stages of construction and is on track to become fully operational in 2025. With 60 of the world’s largest serially produced wind turbines and the largest monopile foundations in UK waters this multi-billion-pound investment is a game-changer.
However, it’s not just about the turbines — it’s about the people. Moray West is expected to inject over £800 million into the local Scottish economy during its lifespan, generating over 1,500 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) years of jobs throughout its construction. Our new Buckie base will create over 60 long-term local jobs working closely with our sister facility in Fraserburgh supporting our Moray East project. Together, they’ll form an O&M hub to efficiently manage our offshore wind farms in the Moray Firth, including the upcoming Caledonia project.
A huge thank you to everyone who has played a part in bringing this vision to life—your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment are driving the future of clean energy in Scotland!

This month, in Poland, OW received the environmental decision for the transmission infrastructure of our BC-Wind project, a crucial step in advancing the project. The decision was issued by the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Gdańsk and covers both offshore and onshore transmission components.
Our BC-Wind project will feature approximately 33 km of submarine cable and 8 km of onshore cable, connecting the 400 kV Choczewo Substation. The construction will use Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) to ensure that the shoreline, including beach areas, remains undisturbed.
Located 23 km north of the Polish shore, near the municipalities of Krokowa and Choczewo, the BC-Wind project is planned to have a capacity of up to 500 MW, covering a total area of 90.94 km². Initial onshore construction is set to begin in the second half of 2025, with the Final Investment Decision (FID) expected by the end of 2024.
Kacper Kostrzewa, our Project Director, said: “Obtaining the environmental decision for the transmission infrastructure is a crucial milestone. We are moving closer to the Final Investment Decision and the construction phase, which will significantly contribute to Poland’s energy transition.”
We are very proud of our teams at OW who embody hard work and determination as a synonym of our commitment!
Ramping up the next project phase for our colleagues in Korea! The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea has awarded the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for our entire 1,125 MW floating offshore wind project off the coast of Ulsan.
This approval marks a significant milestone in the development of our two-phased floating offshore wind project, moving us one step closer to construction.
The EIA comes after over 12 months of hard work from our dedicated teams working on monitoring campaigns and several rounds of consultations with key local communities, stakeholders, and fisheries. The approval puts a special emphasis on our commitment to upholding the highest environmental standards.
Commenting on the matter is Austin Park, KF Wind’s project director, stated, “I am very proud of achieving this key milestone for our project. The KF Wind teams, supported by Ocean Winds and Mainstream Renewable Power, are working diligently for the future 1,125 MW floating offshore project to not only generate clean energy and contribute to Korea’s energy transition but will also adhere to the highest standards of coexistence with local communities, other sea users, and the environment.”
